Pete Seeger: “I Feel Optimistic”

This week PBS will debut Pete Seeger: The Power of Song (watch a clip below), which traces the eighty-eight year-old folk legend’s life from his time with the Weavers through the Joe McCarthy witch hunts to his days as elder statesmen of the folk community. It’s loaded with archival footage of Seeger singing such classics as “Turn, Turn, Turn” and “If I Had A Hammer” and interviews with fans such as Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Natalie Maines from the Dixie Chicks. Seeger called into Rolling Stone recently to chat about the documentary, his memories of Bob Dylan and Lead Belly — as well his thoughts on the presidential election.

The Blenders

It might not be an invalid argument if we consider sub-continent (India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh) as the holy land for classical music. From the time of Aryan civilization until present day this part of the world known as the blessed place for classical music. But as the taste of the listeners are changing because of the westernize music; musicians are also changing their tune, singing and lyric styles. By using modern instruments with the classical instruments musicians are producing new tunes which are very catchy and groovy for the new listeners. And, that is what also known as the fusion music. Various bands and singers from these countries are now a day’s producing fusion music by blending the classical tune with the westernize tune. It has change the taste of the listeners, where 10 years ago only few people used to listen traditional classical music but now there are so many listeners who use to like this genre of music. Particularly 3 bands from this region are very active and practicing this genre of music and successfully achieve the attention of the listeners.
